If There Were No After Life
Whether there’s afterlife, the answer has never been the same. The atheists deny after life, believing that our life is no more than from the cradle to the grave. They may care about their illustrious names after death; they may feel attached to the affection of their offspring, but they never lay their hopes on their afterlife. They may also say that good will be rewarded with good, and evil with evil, but they don’t really believe any retribution in their after life.
However, in the religious world or among the superstitious people, the belief in afterlife is very popular. They do not only believe in afterlife, but thousands of reincarnations as well. In the mysterious world, there are the paradise and the hell, the celestial beings and the gods, the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas.
Maybe they really believed it, or maybe they just wanted to make use of people’s veneration, the ancient emperors always declared that they were the real dragons, the sons of God, while the royal ministers claimed to be the reincarnations of various constellations. But can the stars reincarnate?
Many people burn incense and kowtow, do good deeds and strive for virtues, not just for the present, but mainly to let God see their sincerity so as to be reborn into a better afterlife, or to achieve the highest enlightenment after several lives of practice. They do believe in afterlife. But I can’t help asking: Suppose there were no afterlife, would you still do good deeds and strive for virtues? And If God does not see what you are doing, would you still be so upright and selfless? If you work, not for serving the public and liberating the others, but just for a better afterlife of your own, isn’t it a little too selfish? Comparing with this kind of believers, those who don’t believe in afterlife, but still keep doing good deeds, are the most sincere and honest philanthropists, because they do them not for themselves but for other.
You may wonder if I believe in afterlife. My answer is: I know nothing about my previous life, so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife. But I do hope there’s afterlife! Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. I have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. If there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!
I’m not contented with the present commonplace life, I’m very much attached to the affections that should have been mine but have been washed away by the hurrying time, and I yearn for the perfection and maturity if I could start all over again. So believe it or not, I’d rather there were afterlife.

good morning, ladies and gentlemen. i’d like to share my teaching dream with you. but before that, i want to say something about the beginning of this dream. in march this year, three teachers from australia came to our school. during the meeting, we exchanged a lot about education. i found that though we have almost the same teaching philosophy, we have different routines. what impressed me most was that their schools end at 3:00 in the afternoon and have no night classes. i can’t tell which kind of routine is better, but the sharp contrast made me think about a better education. the following is a dreamy school in my mind, in which there is no pressure but pleasure.
in this school, the buildings are well designed, close to nature. in the morning, children can read while enjoying the beautiful sunrise. in the evening, they can exercise by the lake reflecting the amazing sunset. in the spring, they can go to the wild, lie on the lawn, and watch the kite flying in the blue sky. in the summer, they can go to the forest, live in a cabin, and listen to the rhythm of the rain. …
students are free but polite and they respect each other. they can leave at 4:00 every afternoon, or perhaps earlier. they have the freedom to organize time. they can go to the library, go to the lab, the computer rooms or the playground. they’re self-motivated and have a strong thirst for knowledge. and there are no frequent exams and rankings. students won’t be forced to wear uniforms everyday, and there is no required hair style. everyday is so colorful that they are looking forward to the next day when going to bed at night,
every teacher in this school can give a course as they like. there is no tedious rating, no scraps of quantitative management and no rigid standard. teachers can fully display their personality in class, and they feel very happy and content to teach. every morning, on thoughts of giving lessons, they are excited. after class, they are delighted , with smiles on their faces. some experts, scholars and masters are also visiting teachers in this zhenning can give physics classes for a day. yi zhongtian opens lectures on chinese culture for a week. speaking of music, we can ask wang lihong to give music lectures, just as he did in oxford university. if necessary, we can also invite david beckham to speak something about the world cup …
the principal of the school focuses on education rather than waste time in endless meetings and social activities. teachers’ wages are not high but enough to live comfortably. there are no other things to do except to teach. there are no paper requirements, no titles and no ranks because they don’t need to be judged by those things. almost every teacher is a well-known scholar and master in a particular field. a language teacher may be a writer at the same time. a math teacher may try to overcome a world-class guess. a physics teacher can win invention awards and a music teacher may return from an international music competition again.
in short, in this school, the principal is satisfied, the teachers are happy and the students are joyful. that’s my dream.

Every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. My friends will listen to me when I want to speak, will wipe my eyes when I cry, will take care of me when I am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.

Friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. It is actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. It is also like a cup of tea. When we are thirsty, it will be our best choice, but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves, it is also the most fragrant drink.

All of us have to spare some time for personal lives. We have to find the chance to express our emotion and love. When staying with our friends, we can release ourselves completely. Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.
When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,"Richness, can you take me with you?"
Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"
"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."
"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"
"It was Time," Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

Do I Need To Like Myself?
Yes! People who don't like themselves are a pain in the neck!
Usually, people with a poor self-image use one of two irritating strategies. They either:
a) criticize you a lot or
b) they criticize themselves a lot.
STRATEGY A: They criticize you a lot. They figure that by criticizing other people they can feel better about themselves.
Let's take Fred, who feels inferior. Fred thinks he has a big nose and piggy eyes. He also secretly feels a bit stupid.
So what's his strategy to feel better about himself? He criticizes all his friends. He has names for them like “Flathead”, “Chicken Legs” and “Dogbrain”. Whenever someone else makes a mistake, he announces it to the whole class. (He probably doesn't even realize he criticizes people—or why he does it.)
If you have parents, friends or brothers and sisters who don't like themselves—they might criticize you and everyone around them. Just remember that they criticize you because they have a problem. If you remember that they are actually hurting inside, you won't get so upset by their behaviour.
STRATEGY B: Some people who don't like themselves criticize themselves a lot. They use reverse psychology...
Take Mary who doesn't like herself. She's always telling you, “You are prettier than me. You are smarter. Nobody likes me.” She's hoping that you will reply, “No Mary! You are clever. You are beautiful.” After a while, people like Mary get on your nerves!
In a nutshell
When we don't like ourselves, we irritate other people. We also put ourselves through a lot of stress. When we accept ourselves a little better, we don't play these games.
How Can I Like Myself﹖
In our hearts, most of us believe we should be doing better. We think that we should have gotten higher grades. We want to be popular and hang out with the “in” crowd. We feel we don't measure up to our parents' expectations. Our parents help to confirm this idea when they ask, “Why can't you be more like your brother?”
Whenever you are feeling low, be your own best friend. Accept that, up to now, you have lived your life the best way you know how. No one sets out to screw up their life! Like anyone, you've done the odd stupid thing. With more information you'll likely do better in the future.
Liking yourself means forgiving yourself. If you have made some serious mistakes, if you have hurt some people—and yourself—feeling guilty won't help.
If you are feeling guilty about something, you have already suffered enough. Being guilty for another six months won't help anybody.
Forget perfection and aim for improvement.
It's a funny thing. When you forgive yourself for your own mistakes, you automatically begin to let others off the hook for the same things.
“But I'm Not Brilliant...”
You might look at yourself and say, “I'm not as beautiful as my sister, I'm not as talented as my friends and I'm not brilliant at anything! How can I feel good about me?”
Fact: Nobody is good at everything and most of us have those thoughts!
But here's the lowdown! Talent and beauty are very useful—but there are plenty of talented and beautiful people around whom we don't necessarily admire. And some of them are a pan in the butt!
The qualities most of us value above all others are honesty, courage, persistence, generosity and humility. Take a look at this list and you'll find something interesting. You aren't born with these things. You develop them. Anyone can have them! If you want self-respect, and respect from others, you don't have to be an Einstein or a super-model.
You simply work at developing your own honesty, determination, generosity, humility and courage. It is called “character”.
In a nutshell
How you feel about yourself is in your hands.
通(tong)常,自我(wo)感(gan)覺不好的人會采用兩種策略,要(yao)么(me)(me)老是挑剔(ti)別人,要(yao)么(me)(me)總(zong)是挑剔(ti)自己。
于是就挑所有(you)朋(peng)友的毛病,給(gei)他(ta)(ta)們起一些(xie)怪名字,什么“平頭(tou)”啊(a)“雞(ji)腿”啊(a)“狗腦(nao)”啊(a)等(deng)等(deng)。
請(qing)記(ji)住,他(ta)們挑剔(ti)你(ni)(ni)是(shi)因(yin)為他(ta)們有(you)問(wen)題。

A little boy asked his mother: “Why are you crying?”
“Because I am a woman.” She told him.
“I don’t understand” he said.
His mum just hugged him and said: “And you never will.”
Later the little boy asked his father: “ Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?”
“All woman cry for no reason.” Was all his dad could say.
The little boy grow up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.
Finally he put in a call to God, when God got on the phone, he asked, “God, why do women cry so easily?”
God said: “ When I made the women, she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world; yet, gentle enough to give comfort.
I gave her inner strength to endure childbirth, and the rejections many times comes from her children.
I gave her hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complains.
“I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even her children has hurt her very badly.
“I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.”
“I gave her the wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strength and resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.”
“And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. That is her exclusively to use whenever it is needed.”
“You see the beauty of a women is not the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.”
“The beauty of a women must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where the love resides.
I am the wind, the gentle wind; I am the clouds, the slow, drifting clouds; I am the water, the silent water; I am the mountains, the boundless mountains… If you so want, I will be the gentle wind that will wrap around your lonely spirit! If you so desire, I will be the slow, drifting clouds that will unquestioningly be your support! If you so wish, I will be that silent water, without a murmur, protecting you by your side. If you so will, I will love you unrelentingly, just like those boundless, unbroken mountain ranges and valleys! But, I regret I am not the wind and not able to take care of you. I hate that I am not the clouds and not able to bring you warmth; I pity myself that I am not the water and not able to be so pure; I am angry that I am not the mountains and not able to have my love will be as immovable as I would like. I can only be myself this time, my mortal, earthly self, my only self, the only self that I can ever hope to be. I thirst for love but I do not understand her deep mystery. I strive for transcendence but I would rather be silent and nameless. I want to be mature but I would rather remain innocent. I would like that she love me, but I do not know even if I truly love her! Endless searching, thirsting, striving, pursuing-where are my goals? Where is my future? In this mundane world, I am one lonely speck; in this universe I am a powerless particle of dust. My love, thought beautiful, is nothing great in itself. And so, I ask only to live as well as I can. In truth, there is no need to live one‘s life basking in glory, rising above men—— so long as one’s life has some value, has some security… Fearless and capricious, love will cause me great pain. It is easy to describe success in terms of money, fame and reputation. But I believe that success is not external. I believe that success comes from within. My definition of success is to be true to yourself, and be true to others. That means, that you must cherish your personal ideal even in the face of adversity. I also believe that success is not discriminatory. Success is not restricted to such a class of people, in fact, it may be achieved by any person irrespective of his race, creed, gender and economic background. A good example of success is that of Beethoven. He is one of the world's most famous composers, yet he was deaf. He could not hear the majestic pieces of music that he created. Yet, in the face of this adversity, he was able to maintain his ideals--that of composing music.
To exemplify what success means to me, I pose a question to all of you. What brings us together here today? I believe that it is the beauty of the spoken word. The effect of pause and the sound of rhetoric are unique to the spoken word. I believe the beauty of the spoken word is even stronger for those who have difficulty in expressing themselves.
These people are reclusive and had their emotions hidden within them. I once went to Australia and I saw two pictures, Once was drawn by a normal child, the other was drawn by a child with social inhibitions. The picture drawn by the normal child was simple and plain. The other was life-like, full of details and imagination. What this shows is that these are ideas, emotions and feelings that are locked internally in thesechildren.
My ideal is to be the key, spreading the beauty of the spoken words to these children. These children have been neglected, but I feel that I can and should help these children to find themselves and be able to express themselves.
I realize that this is a difficult task, and there are many obstacles on the way. But I believe in my ideals and I will stick to them--even in the face of adversity. We should never have a premature abortion of ideals--let the child, let our ideals, stand the challenge. For a life without ideals is not living.
Thank you!

Keep Your Direction
What would you do if you failed? Many people may choose to give up. However, the surest way to success is to keep your direction and stick to your your way to success, you must keep your direction. It is just like a lamp, guiding you in darkness and helping you overcome obstacles on your way. Otherwise, you will easily get lost or hesitate to go means objectives. You can get nowhere without an objective in can try to write your objective on paper and make some plans to achieve it. In this way, you will know how to arrange your time and to spend your time properly. And you should also have a belief that you are sure to succeed as long as you keep your direction all the time.

學(xue)(xue)(xue)生(sheng)(sheng)們(men)(men)(men)都是在(zai)(zai)三年級(ji)時(shi)(shi)同一(yi)(yi)起(qi)跑線(xian)上(shang)(shang)起(qi)跑的(de)(de)(de)(de),經過三年來的(de)(de)(de)(de)學(xue)(xue)(xue)習(xi)(xi),學(xue)(xue)(xue)生(sheng)(sheng)與學(xue)(xue)(xue)生(sheng)(sheng)之間(jian)已經拉開了差距。 他們(men)(men)(men)的(de)(de)(de)(de)學(xue)(xue)(xue)習(xi)(xi)習(xi)(xi)慣(guan)好(hao)(hao),在(zai)(zai)聽(ting)、說、讀、寫方面(mian)都能齊頭并進,我為他們(men)(men)(men)感到欣慰。可也(ye)有一(yi)(yi)些(xie)學(xue)(xue)(xue)生(sheng)(sheng),平時(shi)(shi)學(xue)(xue)(xue)習(xi)(xi)馬虎,基(ji)礎不(bu)(bu)扎實,功虧一(yi)(yi)簣,導(dao)致(zhi)他們(men)(men)(men)現(xian)在(zai)(zai)課上(shang)(shang)聽(ting)講出現(xian)困(kun)難,用他們(men)(men)(men)自(zi)(zi)己的(de)(de)(de)(de)話說:“老(lao)(lao)師上(shang)(shang)課,我聽(ting)不(bu)(bu)懂。” 盡管(guan)他 們(men)(men)(men)平時(shi)(shi)不(bu)(bu)需要老(lao)(lao)師操太(tai)多的(de)(de)(de)(de)心,費(fei)太(tai)大(da)的(de)(de)(de)(de)力,但是說起(qi)各方面(mian)的(de)(de)(de)(de)表現(xian),又總(zong)有一(yi)(yi)絲遺憾,我們(men)(men)(men)總(zong)希望(wang)他們(men)(men)(men)能夠再上(shang)(shang)一(yi)(yi)個(ge)臺階。
我(wo)(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)這些醫生又是怎么做(zuo)的呢,我(wo)(wo)(wo)向大家匯報一(yi)(yi)(yi)下(xia)我(wo)(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)英(ying)(ying)(ying)語(yu)老師(shi)的日常工作(zuo)(zuo)。我(wo)(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)六(liu)年級英(ying)(ying)(ying)語(yu)組有(you)(you)四位老師(shi)。每(mei)周(zhou)五我(wo)(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)會用半天(tian)(tian)的時間(jian)來(lai)總結本周(zhou)的工作(zuo)(zuo),安排下(xia)一(yi)(yi)(yi)周(zhou)的工作(zuo)(zuo),然后分(fen)頭備(bei)課(ke)(ke)。每(mei)天(tian)(tian)早上上課(ke)(ke)前的20分(fen)鐘我(wo)(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)都(dou)會討(tao)論今天(tian)(tian)課(ke)(ke)上的重點、難點,每(mei)天(tian)(tian)的家庭作(zuo)(zuo)業(ye)和課(ke)(ke)堂作(zuo)(zuo)業(ye)都(dou)是統一(yi)(yi)(yi)布置的。每(mei)一(yi)(yi)(yi)份(fen)作(zuo)(zuo)業(ye)我(wo)(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)都(dou)會做(zuo)到“有(you)(you)做(zuo)必(bi)收,有(you)(you)收必(bi)批,有(you)(you)批必(bi)評(ping),有(you)(you)評(ping)必(bi)改”的十六(liu)字方(fang)針,所以我(wo)(wo)(wo)敢說,我(wo)(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)班(ban)的每(mei)位同學的每(mei)分(fen)作(zuo)(zuo)業(ye)我(wo)(wo)(wo)都(dou)是每(mei)天(tian)(tian)都(dou)過關(guan)了再回(hui)家的,除(chu)非我(wo)(wo)(wo)不(bu)在學校,所以,只要我(wo)(wo)(wo)是您孩(hai)子(zi)一(yi)(yi)(yi)天(tian)(tian)的英(ying)(ying)(ying)語(yu)老師(shi),就請您放(fang)100個心,我(wo)(wo)(wo)會公平地(di)對待每(mei)一(yi)(yi)(yi)個孩(hai)子(zi)。
在(zai)此,我(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)只是真誠地呼吁我(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)的(de)家(jia)長配合(he)學校,配合(he)老師,靠我(wo)(wo)們(men)(men)共同的(de)努力來幫助孩子學好英(ying)語(yu)。
我(wo)們要(yao)鼓勵孩子(zi)大(da)聲(sheng)地朗讀、對話、問答,大(da)聲(sheng)說,不(bu)害羞,這樣有(you)(you)利于(yu)清(qing)楚地表達自己(ji),也(ye)有(you)(you)利于(yu)他(ta)人糾正自己(ji)的錯誤。
我(wo)們(men)一般是(shi)分(fen)(fen)段教(jiao)課(ke)文,那就(jiu)可(ke)(ke)以(yi)請學生分(fen)(fen)段背(bei)課(ke)文。
由于(yu)我們(men)是(shi)農(nong)村(cun)學(xue)(xue)(xue)校,英(ying)語學(xue)(xue)(xue)科(ke)的(de)(de)(de)學(xue)(xue)(xue)習可以算是(shi)一(yi)(yi)個硬傷! 首先對(dui)于(yu)學(xue)(xue)(xue)生來說,英(ying)語這一(yi)(yi)科(ke)完(wan)全(quan)是(shi)陌(mo)生的(de)(de)(de)學(xue)(xue)(xue)科(ke),我們(men)學(xue)(xue)(xue)校只(zhi)有(you)短短三年的(de)(de)(de)系統學(xue)(xue)(xue)習的(de)(de)(de)時間,就(jiu)(jiu)好比上(shang)到(dao)3年級(ji)的(de)(de)(de)知(zhi)識(shi)卻要(yao)考6年級(ji)的(de)(de)(de)難度,怎么(me)可能呢?而對(dui)于(yu)老師來說,在(zai)遠遠少(shao)于(yu)其他學(xue)(xue)(xue)科(ke)的(de)(de)(de)有(you)限的(de)(de)(de)時間中(zhong),要(yao)將一(yi)(yi)年級(ji)的(de)(de)(de)孩(hai)子直(zhi)接教到(dao)六年級(ji)的(de)(de)(de)水平也只(zhi)能選(xuan)擇(ze)純(chun)粹的(de)(de)(de)知(zhi)識(shi)灌輸,這就(jiu)(jiu)免不了(le)少(shao)了(le)讓孩(hai)子體會循序漸進的(de)(de)(de)這種大量樂(le)趣,從而使(shi)一(yi)(yi)部(bu)分學(xue)(xue)(xue)生喪失了(le)對(dui)這一(yi)(yi)學(xue)(xue)(xue)科(ke)的(de)(de)(de)興(xing)趣和熱情,給教學(xue)(xue)(xue)帶(dai)來了(le)不便(bian)。
要(yao)求背誦課(ke)文(wen),有(you)的(de)(de)(de)同(tong)(tong)學(xue)(xue)連(lian)讀都不讀,這在第(di)二天的(de)(de)(de)課(ke)堂(tang)上都能(neng)體現出來。
從卷面(mian)反饋來看(kan),同學(xue)們(men)(men)的基(ji)礎(chu)比(bi)較薄弱。單(dan)詞拼寫錯誤多(duo)說明(ming)單(dan)詞背得不(bu)(bu)熟練,句型搭配、連詞成句錯的多(duo)說明(ming)課文不(bu)(bu)熟悉(xi),而(er)書面(mian)表達也體現了孩(hai)子們(men)(men)綜合(he)知(zhi)識的運用(yong)能力還欠缺。
所以,對(dui)于(yu)我(wo)們(men)(men)這(zhe)一(yi)屆孩子(zi)我(wo)們(men)(men)學校是(shi)(shi)(shi)寄予了很(hen)大(da)(da)希(xi)望的(de)(de),作為老師我(wo)們(men)(men)也(ye)是(shi)(shi)(shi)滿懷(huai)信(xin)心和(he)熱情。
簽(qian)(qian)字(zi)的(de)(de)(de)目的(de)(de)(de),不(bu)是為了簽(qian)(qian)字(zi)而(er)簽(qian)(qian)字(zi),讀,讀了么(me),是不(bu)是跟錄音讀的(de)(de)(de);背,背的(de)(de)(de)熟不(bu)熟。每天的(de)(de)(de)作(zuo)業(ye)老師(shi)指出(chu)的(de)(de)(de)錯誤及(ji)時(shi)糾正了么(me)。
幫助(zhu)孩(hai)子把(ba)試卷(juan)(juan)保存好(hao),每(mei)次期中期末考試前(qian)把(ba)所有(you)的(de)(de)(de)試卷(juan)(juan)翻看(kan)(kan)一遍,專(zhuan)看(kan)(kan)老師(shi)(shi)記(ji)的(de)(de)(de)重點和(he)自己的(de)(de)(de)錯題(ti)是(shi)非常有(you)效的(de)(de)(de)方法,起(qi)到(dao)事(shi)半功倍的(de)(de)(de)效果。
